Stripping timestamps, line numbers & log prefixes
When copying logs from Kubernetes (kubectl logs --timestamps), CloudWatch, Grafana Loki, or numbered stack traces, every line starts with a fixed-width timestamp or gutter prefix. Set Strip first N chars—or click any character cell in the line 1 character ruler—to slice off the exact prefix across all lines at once.
- Variable-length pod prefixes: If lines start with variable pod names like
api-7d9c8-x2k | 2026-10-30..., enter|in Strip before delimiter first, then use Strip first N chars to remove the timestamp that follows. - Unicode-safe slicing: Character counting operates on full Unicode code points rather than raw UTF-16 code units, so multi-byte symbols and emojis are never split in half.
